Bernadette Gorczyca (chronicaccounts), was just 5 years old when she experienced her first migraine attack. But the pain wasn’t in her head — it was in her stomach. Looking back, though, she believes she was experiencing abdominal migraine, a symptom that rarely appears in adults, but affects about 1 to 4 percent of school-age children. This was the first of many misdiagnoses for Bernadette — and many years of living with chronic pain without answers.
