You might not know about this annual event in Washington. Created during the height of Prohibition – the era of banning booze – Temperance & Good Citizenship Day is now a holiday for public school students to learn about the power of voting and community engagement. 

Public schools across the state will be holding voter registration events in observance. 

Not 18 yet? That’s not a problem. 16 and 17-years olds can sign up as Future Voters and automatically be registered to vote when they turn 18. 

Teens can also sign up online at VoteWA.gov with identification such as a driver’s license, permit, state ID, or the last 4 digits of their Social Security number. 

Our voice in local politics matters. A lot. Working together with our neighbors and voting in local elections are some of the most powerful ways to make tangible change in our communities.
