Heat / Celtics tips off today at 1 PM. Here’s part 2 of the recap of the Heat / Celtics rivalry though-out the years. You can read part 1 in the previous post. 

—- 2020s
2020: Miami wouldn’t face off against Boston again until 2020, during the Covid-19 Orlando Bubble Playoffs. Miami battled a tough series against a young Celtics team. This year marked Jimmy Butler’s first chance at competing with Miami in the Playoffs. 

This was Bam’s series. The big man dominated the Celtics during Game 6 but his most iconic moment came during Game 1 when he emphatically blocked Jayson Tatum’s dunk attempt in what is now one of Miami’s most iconic moments. In Game 6, Bam scored a career-high 32 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists in 39 minutes as the Heat finished off the Celtics.

2022: Miami would face Boston once again in the 2022 Conf. Finals. Miami would lose the series in the final seconds of an epic Game 7 battle, with Jimmy Butler’s three point attempt hitting the rim and missing what would have been a go-ahead 3-pointer with about 17 seconds left.

2023: Miami’s turn for revenge had come. During an unprecedented run to the Eastern Conf. Finals as an 8th seed, Miami would cap off the series with a Game 7 blowout victory in Boston. It wasn’t easy however, Miami led the series at one point 3 games to none, but Boston slowly mounted a comeback game by game and going into Game 7, the Heat risked being the first team in NBA history to lose a series after leading 3-0. Caleb Martin had a career-defining Game 7, scoring 26 points and 10 rebounds, while Butler scored 28.

Overall, Miami has recorded 20 playoff wins against Boston, the most victories against any opponent in Heat playoff history. 

Every NBA fan is looking forward to one more iteration of the Heat/Celtics rivalry matchup during the First Round of the 2024 Playoffs. 

The rivalry resumes once more, today at 1 PM!

2010: Celtics win 4-1.
2011: Heat win 4-1.
2012: Heat win 4-3.
2020: Heat win 4-2.
2022: Celtics win 4-3.
2023: Heat win 4-3.
