#TSRPolitics: #DonaldTrump has fired #CarlaHayden, the first woman and the first African American to be appointed Librarian of Congress. According to apnews, the White House’s Presidential Personnel Office notified Hayden about her termination late Thursday.

An email obtained by AP read, “On behalf of President Donald J. Trump, I am writing to inform you that your position as the Librarian of Congress is terminated effective immediately. Thank you for your service.”

It’s noted that Hayden’s termination aligns with the White House’s efforts to eliminate those within the federal government who oppose Trump and his agenda. Hayden, whom the Senate confirmed to the job in 2016, has not spoken out about the incident. The job has a 10-year term, which was set to expire next year.

Democrats have begun to express their frustrations about Trump’s actions. Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer of New York said, “Enough is enough.” Rep. Joseph Morelle of New York said, “Hayden has spent her entire career serving people — from helping kids learn to read to protecting some of our nation’s most precious treasures.
