## Caption

Happy #SámiNationalDay! On this day in 1917, Sámi delegates gathered for the first international Sámi conference, paving the way for Indigenous rights in Sápmi—the Arctic region spanning Norway, Sweden, Finland & Russia.

First celebrated in 1993, this day encourages Sámi of all nationalities to honor their shared heritage.

🎬 If you’re in Seattle this weekend, we hope you'll join us for a special chance to experience Sámi stories and art at the 7th annual Sámi Film Festival. Curated by acclaimed artist Matti Aikio, the festival takes place Friday & Saturday at Majestic Bay Theatres. You can find out more in our bio!
