## Caption

Today on Indigenous Peoples Day, we turn to our recent exhibition “What Does It Mean to Be Nordic?”, which explores the melding of Nordic with Indigenous, African, Asian, and European Jewish cultures to shape identity.

Thanks to generous funding from the Snoqualmie Indian Tribe, the Museum was able to produce a new orientation video in conjunction with UW Video for the Nordic Journeys core exhibition, augmenting the existing Orientation Gallery content. The voices featured in the video come together to better represent the diversity of the Nordic countries and Nordic America. Participants were posed with the question: "What does it mean to be Nordic?” and were also asked to reflect on the Museum's four core values: Openness, Sustainability, Social Justice, and Innovation. 

This production was inspired by our existing cooperative oral history initiative, “Interwoven: The Blended Heritage of Nordics and Native Peoples”, which was developed as a multifaceted project to record, preserve, and present personal stories and histories of individuals with blended Nordic and Indigenous cultural identity in the Puget Sound region.
