“Feel fear, but do it anyway.”

That’s the motto of Senior Constable Libby - full-time police officer, mother of three and part-time business student. Yep, she’s doing all the things! 🦸👮‍♀️👩‍💻

Currently working in Victoria Police’s State Event Planning Unit, Libby helps coordinate the police response to all major events like the Australian Open, Spring Racing Carnival, and the ANZAC Day match at the MCG.

It’s something that makes her kids proud to say: “My mum gets to work at all the biggest events in Victoria”.

Before this role, Libby was a Youth Resource Officer, which gave her the chance to visit her children’s school and deliver a talk on cyber safety - a moment she’ll never forget, especially seeing her kids beam with pride.

But balancing parenting and policing isn’t always easy.

“There are times when I miss out on public holidays, because of work,” Libby says.

“But with nine weeks of recreational leave a year, I make up for it during school holidays.”

Her advice for other mums considering a policing career? “Don't assume you can’t do it because you have kids. Nine weeks leave and the flexible hours are more conducive to collecting children from school than most office jobs. Sit down, crunch the numbers and see if you can make it work.”

This Mother’s Day, we celebrate all mums for their strength, love, and difference they bring to their families and communities.

💕💐
