How do you do it?
Many people say they wouldn't be able to officiate sports because they can't handle the crazy people yelling. And that is true. That umpire your yelling at has a personal life. One of them is a rookie in their first year. Another is a a 20 year veteran dealing with a struggle at home. Another one just got laid off. Perhaps the one your berating just laid a family member to rest.
In spite of what is going on we all made it to the game to officiate to the best of our ability. We are not perfect but neither are you. We showed up when no one else would. And when the game is over we will think about the calls that we maybe messed up. We will study the videos to see how to be better. We dont need you jumping all over every mistake that you think we made or yelling about the rule you think you know. We are not there to be your verbal punching bag. Whether it is coming from the stands or the dugout doesn't matter. 
We are told to ignore it. Don't have rabbit ears. We are told to be professional when everyone else in the equation is anything but. Just smile and act like thats ok. 
I see all the mental health awareness posts and that seems to go out the window when you are watching a game. I see it across all sports. Ice buckets don't make it ok to abuse the people who officiate. Next time you want to yell, complain, or gripe, take a mental ice bucket and chill. Perhaps remember the last time you made a mistake and how no one yelled about how horrible you are.
