Margot Friedländer dedicated her life towards education and awareness of the Holocaust and rising antisemitism. She also became a local celebrity in Germany for her impeccable style and mantra: “Be human.”

Margot was born and raised in Berlin and hid there after the Nazis seized power and began murdering Jews. She was captured in April 1944 and sent to the Theresienstadt concentration camp, where she remained until its liberation a year later. At that point, her entire family had been murdered.

In 1997, Margot began writing about her Holocaust experience, eventually working with a filmmaker who brought her to Germany to make a documentary about her life.

Margot had once sworn to never return to Germany — but that trip changed everything. She moved back permanently in 2010, at age 89, and quickly became a local celebrity.

At 102 years old, Margot was featured on the cover for the July/August edition of Vogue Germany in 2024. Her legacy will live on and is a reminder that we must preserve, share, and #NeverForget these stories. #MayHerMemoryBeABlessing 🕊️
