The Truist Championship, the PGA Tour's first stop in Philadelphia in seven years, was recently held at the Philadelphia Cricket Club, the nation's oldest country club. It was a resounding success in the eyes of the players, organizers, and fans alike:

“I just wish we played more tournaments up here,” said PGA pro Justin Thomas. “The golf courses are great. You get an energy in the crowd and...you have a lot of buzz.”

"Philadelphia is one of the best places in the U.S. for golf," said 2025 Masters Champion Rory McIlroy. "There are so many great courses around here. We're playing the PGA at Aronimink next year, the US Open in '30 at Merion. There's a lot of great golf in this area."

“I’m at a loss for superlatives: Fantastic, phenomenal, energized,“ said the tournament’s executive director, Joie Chitwood III. ”This has lived up to everything I hoped it would be, and even more.”
 
“The overall vibe of this place is really cool,” said PGA pro Andrew Novak.

The event sold out its gate tickets for all four rounds, and the PGA Pro Shop was nearly sold out of merchandise by Sunday morning. More world-class golf events are coming to Philadelphia next year, with the 2026 PGA Championship at Aronimink Golf Club in May and the 2026 USGA Amateur Championship at Merion Golf Club in August. The U.S. Open will be at Merion Golf Club in 2030, 2040 and 2050.
