We’re pleased to share that Jon Seydl has been named the new Director of Oberlin College's Allen Memorial Art Museum!

Seydl will lead the Allen, one of the nation's premier teaching museums, beginning July 1. He brings extensive experience from his current role at Krannert Art Museum and curatorial leadership at the Cleveland Museum of Art, Worcester Art Museum, and the J. Paul Getty Museum.

At Krannert, Seydl prioritized equity and community engagement while overseeing significant renovations. His appointment at Oberlin follows Andria Derstine's decade of transformative leadership at the Allen, which houses over 16,000 works spanning 6,000 years of history.

"It is beyond thrilling to join the brilliant team at the Allen Memorial Art Museum," says Seydl. "Its vibrant student and faculty engagement is the gold standard for university art museums."

Free and open to the public, the Allen continues its legacy of excellence under new leadership!
