“Mrs. Lipp-Read’s impact on my life has been immeasurable.”

The six 2025 Mr. Canisius finalists all had their photo taken with a faculty member of their choice during the seniors' final week of school.

Here is why Dylan McCarthy ’25 chose math teacher Anne Lipp-Read:

“Mrs. Lipp-Read’s was one of the first people to welcome me to Canisius, and has been my mentor for the last four years. Her guidance has been instrumental in shaping the person I am today.

“From encouraging me to join House Council to challenging me to take AP Calculus BC, she has always pushed me to reach my full potential.

“Mrs. Lipp-Read truly embodies what it means to be a teacher at Canisius – caring, intelligent, dedicated, and someone who holds her students to high standards while supporting them every step of the way.”

Here are Lipp-Read’s thoughts on McCarthy, who is from Lancaster and attended Lancaster Middle School:

“I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Dylan since his first day at Canisius. I remember him as a quiet yet confident freshman, ready to take on new challenges.

“It didn’t take long to recognize his natural leadership potential. Dylan ran for Jogues House Council – and won. This year, Dylan has been an integral part of our BC Calculus class, not only for his strong academic ability but also for his consistently positive attitude and willingness to contribute.

“From that very first day, Dylan has stood out as someone who gives his all and does so with a genuine smile. He’s been a joy to work with.”
