A pelican walks into a coffee shop and what happened next wasn’t funny at all.

On Monday morning, 29-year-old Goldie Montgomery was working as a barista at Left Coast Coffee in Depoe Bay when a scruffy pelican about 18 inches tall waltzed in the front door.

“I was a little freaked out because birds aren’t my thing,” said Montgomery, who was with a customer at the time. “Me and the customer tried to corral him outside, and that’s when I noticed how badly he was shaking, and I was worried he had been hit by a car.”
