Last week two new murals went up at TheMuralFest 2025 in South Salt Lake, Utah 🇺🇸 — a very special collaboration between marcus_gomad_debie from Holland and osirisrain from North Carolina USA.

We first met in St. Petersburg, FL back in 2018 while painting separate murals. Marcus handed me his leftover spray paint and said, “Let’s work together someday.”
Seven years later, it finally happened — right here in the city of South Salt Lake.

We titled the collaboration “THE SPACE BETWEEN”
Two walls, two worlds.

Both murals are located at the Bowers Residences, named after the bowerbird — a species known for creating elaborate, blue-adorned bowers not for shelter, but to attract a mate. Their ritual is rooted in beauty, intention, and instinct — a perfect metaphor for this project.

A man and a woman, crowned in flowers, watched by birds of instinct and grace.
One looks, the other looks away.
One builds, the other shelters.
They orbit without touching — connected, but apart.

The male bowerbird seeks to impress.
The female protects and nurtures, like nature herself.
She doesn’t return the gaze — she holds the gaze of something deeper.

Together, these two murals form a quiet dialogue — about attraction and distance, creation and care, beauty not just displayed, but protected.
