The city officially declared May 16 as “Paige Bueckers Day” and even renamed itself after her for 24 hours as Bueckers made her long-awaited WNBA debut with the Dallas Wings. 🏀⁣

The Minnesota Lynx weren’t as welcoming. They defeated the Wings 99–84 behind Napheesa Collier’s 34-point performance. Despite the loss, Paige finished with 10 points in her debut. 👏⁣

“The first one’s always the hardest, usually,” Bueckers said. “Not to say that it won’t get harder, but just being able to have a starting point and continuing to build off that. And then there’s no more questions about what is it going to be like for your first WNBA game. Now you have move on past that.” 👍⁣

The first regular-season pro game for the three-time Associated Press All-American was noted in her hometown of Hopkins, Minnesota. In addtional to the temporary renaming of the city, a local brewery was offering “Paige’s 3-Point Pale” ale. Streets were to be called “Bueckers Boulevard.” 🍺⁣
