I make a habit of checking out hotels ahead of my trips on kindtraveler. So I was glad to learn that all 42 hotels in SLO are partnered with KT & the ESGB program. So no matter where you stay or how you book, your trip gives back.

“[the] Every Stay Gives Back (ESGB) program makes it easier than ever for travelers to support local communities and care for the environment, simply by booking a stay with our partner hotels, regardless of how or where they book. For every stay booked, a portion of the booking fee goes directly to a local nonprofit organization focused on causes that matter—from environmental protection and animal welfare to community development, social justice, and disaster relief.”

At thehotelslo, eco-conscious hospitality looks like glass bottles in the room that are pre-filled with still water which can be refilled with complimentary still or sparkling from taps on each floor and then drank out of glassware made from recycled wine bottles. It’s a LEED-certified green building with LED lighting & smart room controls. Cruelty-free, eco-friendly bath products are in large, refillable bottles not single-use. Art is prioritized. So are the artists who make it, with labels that tell their stories; even in the gift shop, where a surfer-turned-maker crafts jewelry from the discarded waste of surfboards. Food is responsibly sourced for the 3 restaurants in the hotel, which is important to Chef Ryan Fancher who at piadinaslo serves farm-fresh fare. Check him out in photos regularly taken at farmers markets in & around SLO on their IG! The hotel has EV charging stations & complimentary cruiser bikes. And Hotel SLO sponsors community organizations that raise money for, in just one example, the Humane Society.

The Hotel SLO, in partnership with KT and shareslo’s Sustainable SLO “Keys for Trees” initiative, helps plant trees with ecoslo’s Urban Tree Planting project for every stay.
