"I am based in New York and shoot primarily B&W. While I don’t like to limit myself by saying that I only photograph a specific style like street or architecture, I do gravitate to take photos of scenes and things that look “timeless”. It brings me the most pleasure if I can take a photograph that could have seemingly been taken at any point in time. I use B&W more than anything else because I do have a penchant for printing in my college’s darkroom and I love having the ability of seeing the film process to the end. From shooting, to developing and to printing I love it all. This allows me full control of my photographs and I believe that it helps me produce even better work than if I would send my images to a film lab. While born and raised in Staten Island, NY my family hails from Mexico and I have the privilege of being able to visit my family there every few years. Most of the images submitted here were from the most recent trip to visit and believe it to be some of my best work so far. As for my work in NY however, I do my best to venture into Manhattan to take more photos but with the combination of the current freezing weather and my growing amount of college assignments it’s become a difficult task. But I always make time and plan to continue photographing far into the future especially during the summer as I am more active during that season. I hope to be able to travel across the U.S as well during that time to be able to cultivate my photography even more." - Adan
