Coast Guard Academy-bound Thomas Skowron ‘25, Firefighter Arno Memorial Scholarship winners and National Merit Scholarship high performers were among scores honored at our annual Senior Awards Ceremony in Scaccia Auditorium Tuesday morning.
 
Lieutenant Commander Ryan Beck, Command Center Chief for the U.S. Coast Guard Eastern Great Lakes Sector, presented to Skowron an appointment to the highly selective Coast Guard Academy.
 
The Firefighter Arno Memorial Foundation was created by close friends and family of Jason Arno, a 2003 alumnus of CHS, who, at the age of 37, gave his life in the line of duty while responding to a fire in March 2023. 

Fellow CHS alum Michael Forero ’03, a member of the foundation’s Board of Directors, and Jay’s mother, Cheryl Maher, honored Trevor Wierzbowski and Sheldon Zipp – the first CHS students to receive the Firefighter Arno Memorial Scholarship.
 
Ryan Berenji and Anthony Rizzo were honored for becoming National Merit Scholarship Finalists while our pioneer cohort of the Ignatian Global Scholars Program was recognized. The Student-Athlete of the Year Award was presented to football and basketball Monsignor Martin champion Patrick Enright.

The ceremony honored scores of members of the Class of 2025, which collectively has earned $22 million in college scholarships and grants.
 
The event began with a prayer by Tommy Sheehan ’25 and concluded with Jack Ganci ’25 being named Mr. Canisius 2025.
