🤓 Start too early? The listings you’re seeing aren’t real yet (yes, we’re talking misleading pricing and unavailable units)
🏃 Start too late? You might end up panic-signing a lease you don’t love… for way more than you wanted to spend

Here’s the truth: most apartments in Chicago don’t go live until 60 days before move-in. That’s when current tenants give notice, and real availability + pricing hits the market. Sooooo if you’re trying to move in August? June is the time to start the search. Anything before that is just window shopping with no real results

But wait — there’s MORE
The time of year you move also plays a huge role in how much you’ll pay
☀️ Summer = higher demand, higher prices, and fewer specials
❄️ Winter = lower pricing due to less demand, more promos (think 1–2 months free)

So what’s the move? 🤔
If you’ve got flexibility, October through February is the sweet spot for savings. If not, try signing a longer lease in summer so your next renewal hits during off-season (and you can lock in a better rate next time)
