Let’s catch up with 2002 LSU Dance alumna Sally Newcomer! From graduating with her dance minor in 2002 to instilling her love of dance to her daughter, the LSU Dance program left lasting impacts on Sally on her personal life and career. Read more about Sally below!

“Hi! My name is Sally West Newcomer and I’m a proud LSU dance alumni. I was part of the first group of dancers that participated in the resurrection of the dance program at LSU. Under the direction of Molly Buchmann, we were able to take classes in dance history, dance theory, classical ballet, modern dance, and choreography. I graduated in 2002 with a minor in dance and continued to dance for many years until I was 7 months pregnant with my son! I have incorporated dance into my career as a special needs preschool teacher and love to see how movement can encourage my students’ development and growth. I’ve also passed on my love of dance to my daughter, who has become a beautiful and strong ballerina. And every once in a while, I pull out my ballet slippers and take an adult ballet class at our local studio. I often think of my LSU dance days - even 23 years later - and am so grateful to have had the experience. It really was one of the best parts of my time at LSU!”
