#Sonder10: Sonder All-Star Volunteers – Kurt Freudenreich 🥾🏔️🪚🧡

Some heroes don’t wear capes—they carry chainsaws, hike thousands of miles, and build bars in their woodshops. Meet Kurt Freudenreich, a true Sonder Hero and one of our most devoted volunteers over the past decade.

We first met Kurt in the aftermath of Hurricane Michael, when we needed professional help removing dangerous trees that were beyond the ability of our volunteer crews. Kurt stepped up with skill, heart, and humility—opening a chapter of service and dedication we’ll never forget.

Soon after, Kurt told us his dream: to fund a clean water well for a community in need. A year later, he set off on the Continental Divide Trail to make it happen—raising funds step by step across 3,000 miles to fund a well in the community of Wanga in Burkina Faso in 2020. 

But Kurt wasn’t finished. A few years later, he hiked the entire Florida Trail, this time to support students through our Education is Power program. His efforts helped over 30 students access education.

And still—he gave more.
🏃‍♂️ Led cleanup at our 2019 30A Half Marathon & 5K
🔥 Served as a BBQ Vendor at the 30A BBQ Festival
🪵 Built and donated a handcrafted bar for our events
🤝 Showed up time and again to serve with passion

Kurt is more than a volunteer—he’s a movement of one, proving what’s possible when someone decides to turn purpose into action.

Thank you, Kurt, for every step, every hour, and every ounce of heart you've poured into this mission. You are a true Sonder Hero, and we’re endlessly grateful. 💙
