Without intervention Syria would have entered an economic freefall, a power vacuum that would have been filled by ISIS, Iran’s IRGC, and Russian influence — all waiting to reassert control.

Lifting sanctions opened the door to counterterrorism coordination, economic stabilization, and keeping bad actors like ISIS, Iran, and Russia out.
