pride in high school?

a Cleveland TN high school student (also named morgan) came out—and instead of being celebrated, was punished. her mom reached out to tell me about the bullying that followed.

and i thought about how many of us were told we didn’t belong. how many of us still carry that shame.

last night was my 20-year high school reunion. and i made sure to kiss my husband in the hallway. because visibility matters. because joy is resistance. because my love is holy.
