Please join Deering Estate's AIR andreaclementphotoencaustics for an invigorating Encaustic Technique Workshop on June 8th, 2025 from 10am-3pm.

Encaustic art is an ancient art technique that involves layering molten beeswax onto a panel, then incorporating pigments, paint, and other materials to create richly textured, luminous works of art.  This 5-hour workshop will guide participants to through the essential encaustic methods, including layering, building texture, incising lines and shapes, embedding lightweight papers, and scraping to reveal hidden details within your piece. Designed for beginners and experienced artists alike, this class takes on a playful, experimental approach.

No prior painting or encaustic experience is required. All materials are included.

El arte encáustico es una antigua técnica artística que consiste en aplicar capas de cera de abeja fundida sobre un panel e incorporar pigmentos, pintura y otros materiales para crear obras de arte luminosas y ricas en texturas.  Este taller de 5 horas guiará a los participantes a través de los métodos esenciales de la encáustica, incluyendo la estratificación, la creación de texturas, la incisión de líneas y formas, la incrustación de papeles ligeros, y el raspado para revelar detalles ocultos dentro de su pieza. Diseñado para principiantes y artistas experimentados por igual, esta clase tiene un enfoque lúdico y experimental.

No se requiere experiencia previa en pintura o encáustica. Todos los materiales están incluidos.
