[TRIGGER WARNING] "What seemed like a perfect childhood from the outside was actually a traumatic experience with a very dark underbelly. The thing I always turned to as a child and into my life today was the mountains… A place where I always feel welcome and at home. At one time it felt like the mountains and action sports took everything from me but, no matter what, I still come back to the strength & community they provide. 

My injuries, addiction, and mental health struggles felt as if they stripped who I was as a person and, thanks to professional help, I am proud to be where I am today. Returning to my first true love, skiing, was an important step in my recovery. The mountain sports community is what saved me. Community, connection, and the mountains are what keep me in recovery today. As mentioned, mental health and recovery aren't a one-size-fits-all sort of thing, and finding what works for you is crucial. What's most important is remembering that it is possible to recover, I promise you that."
