Steel City plays its first-ever Illinois State Cup match on Joliet soil Thursday night. The prestigious single-elimination tournament has long been Joliet’s white whale. It’s been 106 years since a team from this soccer-mad city lifted the trophy.

The relentless pursuit of the Cup is a focal point for our club’s ambition and spirit. 

It’s been 100+ years of near misses and heartbreaks. Just last year, a 4-0 Steel City halftime lead vanished – as if summoned from the depths – when AFC Roscoe clawed their way back and turned certainty into chaos, eliminating Steel City again.
