## Caption

In a small commercial business park in San Leandro, Jijad Hijazi runs Ancestors Cafe, a restaurant where he serves Peruvian and Palestinian dishes. Hijazi’s parents, who are Palestinian and Peruvian, ran a restaurant in the same physical space until the COVID-19 pandemic shut them down. In 2022, Hijazi wanted to revive the space with a new name to serve up his family’s recipes. 

Hijazi is a San Francisco native, and in 2008, he graduated from San Francisco State University, where he majored in urban studies and planning. He sees the cafe as a spot to host and serve the surrounding community.
