In partnership with the smithsonian, Bow Seat is launching the Smithsonian Creativity in Resilience Award— celebrating artistic works that embody the spirit of resilience in the face of our planet’s environmental challenges. This award recognizes excellence across all creative categories and Contest entries that reflect this year’s sub-theme: #Resilience.

💡 The Smithsonian Creativity in Resilience Award will honor 20 outstanding youth artists — 10 from the Junior Division (ages 11–14) and 10 from the Senior Division (ages 15–18) — with $250 awards. Submissions from any country are eligible, and entries that deeply explore how creativity can help build environmental resilience will be considered by expert panelists, including voices from the Smithsonian.

🌍 This new award is part of the Smithsonian’s broader Life on a Sustainable Planet initiative, which aims to spark global engagement in climate education and solutions. By leveraging science, outreach, and storytelling, the program supports innovative ways to preserve ecosystems, educate communities, and strengthen resilience at all levels.

🎨 Whether you’re painting, writing, filming, composing, or designing — if your work imagines a more resilient world and connects people to nature in meaningful ways, this award is for you. Winners will be announced alongside all 2025 Ocean Awareness Contest honorees. Selection for the Smithsonian award does not affect eligibility for other Bow Seat prizes— so bring your full creativity to the table.
