Day 25 Post Spinal Fusion Surgery Morning Walk Moment of Zen—taking my lead from this week’s podcast guest craigmod 

It’s kind of perfect that he is today’s guest given where I’m at and what I’m currently contending with. Funny how perfectly the Universe seems to work in this magical way.

A few reflections:

- I continue to struggle with pain around the surgical incisions but otherwise the overall pain continues to subside.

- my focus is on doing far less than I am able, which is a counter-intuitive impulse I am endeavoring to rewire. Short walks. Soft Wins. Rest. Calm. 

- I’ve doubled down on meditation, which is nurturing my capacity to be more present, still, and patient—with myself and others.

- avoiding the temptation to ‘future cast’ what I might/will be able to do later by attuning myself to what I can and am doing right now, which is helping with gratitude.

- letting go of getting caught up in the anxiety of looming responsibilities and the notion that this pause is setting me back or somehow putting me behind. 

- The race may go to those who slow down the least, but I’m challenging the presumption that there is even a race at all. 

- Finally, I’m really enjoying having all 4 kids home for the summer.

I have everything I need. I am blessed, grateful, and full of hope.
