Meet Nicole Gasbarro, a passionate and inspiring student leader whose journey at Rutgers–New Brunswick is rooted in service, growth, and purpose. Nicole has worn many hats—serving as a LEAD Intern for the First-Year Fellowship and LVL Up programs, an Orientation Leader for the Student Orientation and Transition programs, and a proud participant in the Rutgers Alternative Breaks Trip. She is also a member of the Leadership Living Learning Community, an active participant in Rutgers Catholic, and has completed all of the courses in the prestigious Lead-Up Academy—a true testament to her commitment to lifelong leadership development.

What drives Nicole? Giving back. As an only child navigating the transition from high school to college, she bravely stepped outside her comfort zone to build community and help others do the same. “Now I encourage other students to come out of their shells,” she shares, “by attending events and taking on leadership positions, which help you grow as a student and leader.”

Nicole’s story is a reminder that leadership is about more than titles—it’s about impact. Through every initiative, she’s worked alongside some of the most passionate and dedicated staff and peers, building spaces where students can thrive both personally and academically.

“Student activities allow us to find our voice and passion within a large campus community,” Nicole explains. “They help us become better people and serve the communities we find ourselves in.”
