Welcome to The Soccer Odyssey, episode one. On the first stop of our soccer roadtrip across America, we headed to Asheville to attend the first sporting event in the city since Hurricane Helene. Lower league club Asheville City SC took on USL side Greenville Triumph for the First Round of the 2025 US Open Cup, looking to upset a team playing a full division above them.

It was a cathartic moment for soccer fans in North Carolina, and as we spoke to locals, supporters, and players, we were able to witness the beautiful game’s undeniable power to heal.
