Meet Delaney Kastensmidt (JD 26)
 
My name is Delaney Kastensmidt, and I am originally from the Daytona Beach, FL area. I am a second-year student at UF Law and attended UF for undergrad. I am a proud double Gator. I love cooking, spending time outdoors with my husband, and playing with my dog, Whitley! 
 
Throughout my undergraduate studies, I studied behavioral analysis, where I worked with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and various other intellectual and physical disabilities. I went to law school because I had, and still have, a strong desire to advocate for children who often have nobody to advocate on their behalf. Law school has allowed me to explore that special interest and fall in love with advocacy work in criminal and civil realms.
 
I chose UF Law because I knew the opportunities it would provide me within the state of Florida. I also hope to enter the private sector for at least the beginning of my career upon graduation, and I knew going to the top law school in the state would be critical for job prospects and future opportunities. I have loved so many different aspects of my law school experience, including being an active member of the UF Law Trial Team and competing in a national competition in Houston, Texas, working as an extern for the Department of Children and Families, taking an inside-out transformative perspectives class in a local state correctional institution, and meeting new friends that I couldn’t imagine life without now!
 
The opportunities that UF Law provides are unlike any other institution. The smaller environment, frequent professor interaction, prestige of the institution, and evolutionary courses/hands-on coursework provided to students at UF Law have allowed me to excel beyond what I even thought I was capable of at the very beginning of my legal career. While law school is comprised of some of the most challenging few years, they are also some of the most rewarding years of your life. The connections you make here will continue to pay dividends far beyond what you think is possible. After all, Gators are everywhere!
