## Caption

Tucked between Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia, this little landlocked country often gets overshadowed by its more famous neighbors. But if Southeast Asia is on your radar, don’t sleep on Laos. It’s the hidden gem you didn’t know you were searching for 👀

Imagine waking up to mist drifting over the mountains in Luang Prabang, giving alms to the monks at sunrise, then spending your afternoon swimming in waterfalls. Hop on a boat down the Mekong River with no plan except to soak in the the sunset. Explore ancient temples, quiet villages, and jungle landscapes, and you can see all this in as little as 10 days! 

Here’s where to go: 
• Start in Luang Prabang, take boat rides down the river (riversunlaos is excellent), watch sunrise or sunset at the viewpoint, visit local temples, caves, the falls and then head across the river to cycle through local villages
• Hop on a van or drive north to Nong Khiaw. This is so often skipped by travellers as it takes a few hours to get there, but it’s so worth the trip! Hike, take in the views, stay on the river and enjoy incredible nature!
• If you have time go further up the river to Mong Ngoy
• Return to Luang Prabang and take the high speed train to Vang Vieng. You can book trains on 12go_com . Hike, dive in the emerald pools, watch sunrise and sunset - this is a party town so you *can* party, but you also can stay outside the main strip if you want keep it chilled. 
• Hop on a high speed train to Vientiane, do a city tour, get your laundry done and explore a little. 

Vientiane needs less time than the rest of the stops, give about 3-7 days for Luang Prabang / Nong Khiaw / Mong Ngoy, 2-4 days for Vang Vieng, and then maybe a couple of nights in Vientiane.
