The first person that comes up when you hit share needs to take you to Koh Ngai 🌴

Here’s your island travel guide so you don’t have to do any of the research - just read this post, book and show up! 👌🏼

Koh Ngai is a tiny,  pretty island which is close to a lot of islands you may have already heard about: koh lanta, phi phi and Phuket are all nearby and you can get a boat from each one to Koh Ngai. In terms of accessibility it’s a straightforward island to get to. Book your boat on 12go_com 🫶🏻

This is a super quiet and picturesque spot, it only gets busy at around 2pm each day when boat trippers stop here on the ‘4 island boat trip’ around the Trang islands from Lanta. If you want to see Koh Ngai but not stay overnight, head to Lanta and book into this tour. Details are in my Lanta highlight 👀

The island is best for couples, families with young kids (teenagers may get bored), and solo travellers looking to replace - I would definitely come here alone to chill and read for a few days. 

In terms of places to stay, there are about 10 hotels on the island ranging from tents to luxurious resorts - here are my top picks:

• andamankohngaiseafood is where we stayed, we got a simple hut for €42 in peak season. There was no air con or hot water, so this is for my basic flashpackers 
• For budget backpackers, check out Koh Ngai Camping where you can get a simple tent on the beach for about €20 per night 
• cococottage.team is a gorgeous option on the beach, rooms are €180 in peak season and €80 in low season thanyabeachresort is similarly priced option 

For eating and drinking, we went to BHM bar for sundowners at sunset, Ohana for morning coffees (the banana one is act v good!), we loved the food at Koh Ngai Seafood, Mayalay restaurant gets middling reviews and the service isn’t the best but the food is great. So it’s still on my list! 

There’s not much to do at night but look at the stars, which were so stunning! We would go to bed early and wake up for sunrise, when the beaches would be empty and the sky was just perfect 🫶🏻
