• GETTING THERE •
giligetawayfastboat will take you from Serangan Pier to Gili Gede in 2 hours, stopping at Nusa Penida en route.

At the moment, boats run mon-weds-fri but schedules are seasonal and on their website. Departure is 8:30am from Serangan, 12pm back from Gili Gede. If youre staying on any of the nearby islands, your hotel will send a boat to pick you up from Gede.

• ACCOMMODATION •
We stayed at giliasahanecolodge and kokomogiligede during our stay and would recommend but preferred Kokomo. 

Accommodation prices range from about €15 to €150 per night, so there’s something for any price range. Breakfast is often included, cutting your food budget down. In low season, chances of an upgrade are high 👀

• WEATHER •
Visit between May & mid November. July & August will be peak season, book in advance if you visit then as there isn’t a lot of options for accommodation. 

• EATING & DRINKING •
You’ll find western and local food, prices are around 100k per dish in hotels, 30k in local warungs. Expect lots of fish, particularly tuna. kokomo has great sashimi, and eco lodge has fantastic Italian food (even Abruzzese wine!)

• WHAT TO DO •
Do shared or private trips to snorkel around or visit the nearby islands. Kayak, SUP, snorkel right from the beaches, and explore the island on foot. These islands are perfect for water lovers, or if you want to relax and detach from the world for a little while.

Pack bug spray & a bite pen for the mozzies and bitey ants
Bring cash as you may not get access to an ATM
Pondok sunset bar on Gede is fab for sunset 
If I had to pick one island to stay on it would be Gede, but I’m glad we got to try two 
Give yourself 2 nights minimum 
Solo traveller friendly
