Looking for a unique island paradise in Thailand? Check out the Surin islands 🌴 

These islands are around 2 hours off the west coast of Thailand, with boats departing from Khuraburi pier. You have two options to visit: a day trip, or an overnight trip. I recommend an overnight trip if you have the time, so you can see quieter parts of the islands without anyone else there. 

The Surin islands are unusual as they are a national park. This means that visits are strictly managed to protect the wildlife and nature. You must book with a tour operator, so numbers are limited. The results of these rules are low crowds, pristine beaches, and crystal clear water with turtles swimming around as you boat from beach to beach 🐢 

Accommodation is rustic, with a combination of bungalows, glamping tents and basic tents all right on the sand, just steps from the ocean. Meals are served in your camp, or in the island canteen which you can take a boat to each day. There are two coffee and snack stands which are open in the morning and afternoon where we did our daily ice cream trips. 

On these islands you wake and sleep with the sun. Rise at sunrise to meditate or workout on the sand, spend your day lazing on the beach, hopping on boat rides, and jumping in the bright blue water. At night watch sunset, eat dinner at camp, and sleep early after a busy day ⛺️

These islands are a welcome escape from the busy, hotel lined beaches of nearby Phuket, and perfect for visitors to Thailand who want a unique experience and don’t mind roughing it a little for a few nights! I loved waking up next to the ocean, eating with everyone at camp, the noise of monkeys fighing outside the tent at night, hiking to sunset beach, and mostly getting to spend time on completely empty beaches and not surrounded by tons of boats every day.
