We made it to Nong Khiaw, and I already have no regrets about taking half the day to come here - for just 24 hours 👀🫣 

Last time we were in Laos, we found out about Nong Khiaw on our last day in Luang Prabang so it was too late to go. This time I was on a mission!

The biggest reason that this place doesn’t get many visitors is that getting here can be a little bit of a faff. You get get south to Vang Vieng in just an hour by high speed train, but travelling north to Nong Khiaw involves a 3-4 hour drive on some winding roads. Add in the general casual attitude towards time schedules here, and the trip can take up to 6/7 hours 😂 Check our stories for a look at our journey! So what can we do here besides lay here all day? Hike! There are some amazing viewpoints here which we’re planning to check out today and tomorrow. There are also waterfalls & caves you can visit, you can kayak and take boat rides along the river, and you can do overnight treks with a homestay visit with a local family.
