Planning a trip to Thailand? Read & save this post to add Kanchanaburi to your itinerary 📍

I have posts coming up with my favourite spots, but here is how to spend 3 days in this beautiful region.

Where is it?
Kanchanaburi town lies around 2.5 hours west of Bangkok, and the entire province stretches over to the border of Myanmar. It’s about 20k square kilometres, full of jungles, waterfalls, caves, and historical sites.

Day 1:
Stay in a floating raft house over the River Kwai (I’ll post links to three great options in my Broadcast Channel, so you can check them out). Wake up with the water rushing by your room, take a raft trip down the river, kayak, or laze in your hammock reading a book. Visit a local Mon village, and watch a traditional dance performance.

Day 2:
Head to Hellfire pass early in the morning after checkout, and do the tour of this historically significant spot, where 90,000 labourers and 12,000 POWs were forced in harsh conditions to build a railway between Myanmar and Thailand during WW2. Hear their stories, and walk the pass. I have post coming up with more details!

After the Hellfire Pass, drive to @lakeviewcafe to have lunch with the most incredible views. We stayed at a gorgeous modern raft house with a private rooftop, just 10 minutes from the entrance to the park.

Drive 40 minutes towards Erawan national park, checking into your hotel. We stayed in a gorgeous modern river raft here, which I’ll link in my broadcast channel. Watch the sunset from the rooftop of your hut, and grab food in town. Get an early night as you’re up early tomorrow!

Day 3:
Head to Erawan National to hike to the seven tiered waterfalls. I’ve a post coming up with full details on this national park, it’s *insane* - and I’ve some great tips we picked up while we were there. Arrive for its opening at 8am and spend about 3 hours here.

After this, head back to your room to shower & check out, then drive into Kanchanaburi town. Grab food along the way, or in the town (Kin Khao Lam is a great spot for Thai food). Head to the famous bridge, and explore the town (post is coming with what to see!). Enjoy the nightlife, or head back to BKK that day!
