The Alumnae of Northwestern University has awarded funding for projects totaling more than $38,000 that will bring guest artists, #distinguishedscholars, and speakers to campus to enhance the experiences of undergraduate students during the 2025-2026 academic year.

#NUSoC Prof. and Director of the #MFA Directing Program, Jessica Thebus' project “The Beyond” will bring guest artist residencies to #Northwestern for a four-week theater workshop to develop an original piece about the final works of American painter, Georgia O’Keeffe. The artists will visit classes in their respective areas and offer a masterclass in collaboration for senior undergraduate and graduate students in #acting, #writing, #directing, and #design. All #SoC community members will be invited to a weekend of performances of the work-in-progress at the WirtzCenter in spring 2026.

#NUSoC Prof. and Head of Voice in the Department of Theatre, Linda Gates' project “Podcasting Techniques and Skills for the Theatre Performer” is a coaching residency, workshop, and a #masterclass taught by British/American actress, Marion Sybil Lines (BBC, thersc, London and Stratford-on-Avon, and #Broadway). She will teach students how to create a variety of #charactervoices using a wide range of British dialects. For actors, podcasting has become a new fixture in performance. So Sybil Lines will also lead a workshop for students interested in all aspects of adapting non-dramatic text for #performance, such as #novels, #shortstories, letters, and diaries using #podcasting.
