First, I want to say how grateful I am to stand before you today, wearing this jersey, representing not just the Toronto Argonauts but a journey—my journey—one that’s been shaped by challenges, triumphs, setbacks, and the lessons I’ve learned along the way.

When I look back at where I’ve come from, I see a young man who had dreams of greatness, who knew he had talent but had a lot to learn about what it means to truly be great. It wasn’t just about the wins or the stats on the field. No, greatness is about much more than that. It’s about the way we carry ourselves when things don’t go our way, when the world feels like it’s against us, and how we respond to adversity.

I’ve faced my fair share of challenges, and I’ve made mistakes. I’ve had moments where I stumbled, moments where I had to take a hard look in the mirror and ask myself, “Who do you really want to be?” And let me tell you, that wasn’t always easy. But what I learned through those tough times is that acceptance—accepting where I’ve been, who I’ve been, and the decisions I’ve made—is the foundation for growth. You can’t move forward until you’ve come to terms with your past.

But here’s the thing: Acceptance doesn’t mean standing still. It doesn’t mean being satisfied with who you are today. For me, it’s been about using grace, not just with others but with myself. Every day, I remind myself that grace gives us the chance to be better, to do better. It’s allowed me to pick myself up, move forward, and focus on becoming a better teammate, a better man, and a better leader.
