More of just a recognition post since news slows down in the summer months..

Back on Wednesday, June 4th, Cornell University (DI) announced the hiring of Chris Brown. Brown was a long time #D3 coach where he served as the Augsburg Auggies men’s ice hockey head coach for 15 seasons. Most recently he was the associate head coach at Alaska-Fairbanks (DI) the last four seasons.

A graduate of Wisconsin-River Falls in 1994, Brown joined the Auggies’ bench in the 1996-1997 season as an assistant coach for one season beginning his post-playing career before returning in the same role in 2005-2006. He took over the reigns in 2006.

Prior to returning to Augsburg, Brown served as an assistant coach at Alaska-Anchorage (DI) from 1997-2000 before taking over the Marian bench from 2000-2004 to get his first head coaching stint. He spent one season at the helm with Hamline in 2004-2005.

Overall as a D3 head coach, Brown posted a 261-209-38 record (.551) in twenty seasons. While with the Auggies, his teams reached the #MIAC postseason ten times as Augsburg became the first MIAC men’s hockey team to ever win playoff championships four straight years (2015-19), earning the conference’s #NCAA Division III National Tournament berth each time. The Auggies also won the MIAC regular-season title three times in that same four-year stretch.

Im his playing days, Brown spent two seasons in the #USHL with the Waterloo Black Hawks before playing four years at #UWRF. He served as team captain in his senior season for the Falcons.
