“The ocean is the ultimate shared resource. But we are failing it.”

At the #UnitedNations Ocean Conference in Nice, #France, UN Secretary-General antonioguterres urged world leaders to commit to the ambition, investments and action needed to protect our ocean amid growing threats —from overconsumption and illegal fishing to plastic pollution and carbon emissions.

“Today, we have the opportunity to restore marine abundance,” said the Secretary-General.

“The ocean of our ancestors —teeming with life and diversity— can be more than legend.

It can be our legacy.”
