Meet Brett Duffy—a double greyhound (Emerging Leaders MBA student and BBA, ‘24) and first-generation student from Needham, MA.

Brett joined the Emerging Leaders MBA program within LoyolaSellinger to pursue personal growth and professional connections, and to become a well-rounded, globally aware leader. A highlight was his international business trek to Cambodia, Vietnam, and Thailand. “This experience was incredibly impactful, allowing me to apply what I’ve learned in the classroom to real-world global contexts. Meeting with international companies, exploring cultural differences in business practices, and engaging with local professionals deepened my appreciation for cross-cultural leadership and strategy. I was encouraged to form strong bonds with my classmates and step outside of my comfort zone in ways that challenged and inspired me.”

During his undergraduate years at Loyola, Brett made history as the first male dancer of LoyolaMarylandDanceTeam. As team captain, Brett “learned how to lead with empathy, communicate clearly under pressure, and hold space for others to thrive. It taught me the value of consistency, preparation, and advocacy—skills that will translate into any future leadership role I take on.”

“My six years at Loyola have shaped me in every way. Personally, it gave me the confidence to break barriers and be my authentic self. Academically, it pushed me to think more deeply and strategically. Professionally, I gained leadership experience, communication skills, and a strong ethical foundation that I’ll carry with me long after graduation.”

Brett hopes to pursue a career in the digital marketing field while also continuing his passion for dance, whether on a professional sports dance team or giving back at his local dance studios. “I’m excited to grow in both areas and build a life that blends professional ambition with artistic expression.”
