The Miners win and set more records! ⛏️

Sussex County amassed 19 runs and 23 hits to squash the Ottawa Titans, 19-3, at Ottawa Stadium, ensuring another series win. The Miners set franchise records for runs scored and hits in a road game.

The Miners’ offense was on fire during the record-setting night: 10 of 11 players logged at least a hit and a run scored; three players went deep (Roby Jr., O’Brien, and Sayre), and the team worked 10 walks. Sussex County also sprinkled in three doubles and a triple.

Alec Sayre (pictured; alec.sayre) earned Miner of the Game honors, tying a franchise record for most RBI in a single game with six. The right fielder powered Sussex County with a 3-for-6 performance, scoring three times, knocking in a half-dozen, and taking a walk. His spectacular evening included two home runs and a triple.

Catcher Keenan O’Brien (keenan_o9) went 3-for-5, scoring and knocking in four. Center fielder Dom Johnson (dominicjohnsonn) collected four hits. First baseman Mahki Backstrom (cmcthagreat) picked up two hits and three RBI. Left fielder Jordan Smith (jsmith4_) smacked a trio of hits and crossed the plate three times.

Billy Parsons (W, 5-0; billypars0ns) was outstanding in his first professional start, limiting the Titans to one run and three hits in his six innings of work. Parsons allowed two walks and struck out a pair, lowering his ERA to 1.80.

Sussex County remains on top of the frontier_league’s Atlantic Conference East Division at 25-10 and increased their lead over the New York Boulders to 7.5 games.
