Meet Yakeriya Gay, a proud Criminal Justice Graduate, Human Jukebox Freshman Class of 2021, and a fierce example of what it means to be focused, purpose-driven, and unshakably committed to the goal, learning that degree.

As a proud member of the Southern University Human Jukebox, Yakeriya sat down with us to share her journey, her aspirations of becoming a lawyer, and her powerful message to her fellow bandmates and students:

“Never lose sight of why you’re here. This experience is bigger than the just being in the band, it’s about walking across that stage.”

She also reflected on a message that stuck with her from Dr. Taylor:

“P.U.S.H. — Pray Until Something Happens.”
