Today is the beginning of forever. My heart is so full, and I’m honored to be this boy’s mom. I can’t explain the feeling of joy and relief as we went to the courthouse this afternoon, and the judge made it official. We’re a family. Forever.

A little part of me is hesitant to share this moment in our foster care journey because it only shows one part of the story. I haven’t shared the messy road that led us here. But the details of how we got here aren’t mine to share. So here’s what I want you to know:

This wasn’t plan A. And although we are now in a place where we are overflowing with joy, there was a long period of sadness on behalf of this little person (and his bio parents) who can’t yet understand the gravity of what all of this means.

But today, we’re celebrating. We’re celebrating our family of 3.
