Better late than never… It’s somehow been over a month since this climbing trip, and honestly, it feels like I’m living in a time warp. Is that just motherhood, or does anyone else feel it too? 😂

Looking back at this collection of unedited iPhone pics brings me so much joy. I know I’ve said it before but getting back into climbing has felt like a reclamation of a part of myself I’d been missing.

But here’s the part I know some might judge me for… it means sometimes taking time away from my kiddo. Yep, I said it. This trip? It was five days in the desert with my best friend while my husband stayed home with our toddler.

And two weeks later, the roles flipped: he went on a solo adventure while I held things down at home. We’ve made a conscious decision to support each other in having kid-free adventure time because we’ve learned that a little time for ourselves makes us both better, more present parents.

Plus, it’s been really special for each of us to get one-on-one time with our daughter.

As a mom, I feel like there’s so much pressure to give up everything for our kids. But if that’s not working for you, I just want to show there’s another way. And for us, this shift has been a game-changer.

Don’t get me wrong, we love family adventures too, and will continue to share our love of the outdoors with our kid but sometimes solo time is exactly what we need to fill our cups. I came home from this trip so inspired by life again AND so excited to cuddle my kiddo.
