A New Era Begins in Cherokee Nation. 🎬🌟

The first-ever cohort of the Cherokee Film Institute (cherokeefilminstitute) has officially graduated, marking a major milestone and launching a bright new chapter for Indigenous storytelling.

But that’s not all — The Cherokee Nation has just been declared the first “Film-Ready” reservation in the U.S., paving the way for what many are calling the rise of a new “Native Hollywood.” 🍿👀

With Cherokee.Film at the helm, the Nation has proclaimed itself ready to welcome large-scale Hollywood productions, nurture local talent, and shape the future of film across Indian Country for the next seven generations. 

Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr. (chuckhoskinjr) shared this after meeting a recent high school graduate who expressed interest in working for Cherokee Film:

“He’s in a generation where he can look to his nation for inspiration, to open a door. He can look to Cherokee Film as something he can see, something he wants to be, and something that he can be. That’s powerful.” — Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr.
