She spoke for all of us. 🥹👏

Earlier this month, Tracie Yellowman Tséyíníítsó, a proud Diné (Navajo) woman, became the first Native American student to deliver a commencement speech at the University of Utah.

At 43, this matriarch of three, professional pipe welder, and 4.0 GPA student stood before thousands, embodying both cultural and academic excellence. 🎓🪶

Yellowman Tséyíníítsó greeted the audience with "Yá’át’ééh" and shared her journey from Díwóózhi Bíkóh’ (Greasewood Springs) to the university stage, while wearing a ribbon skirt, moccasins, and a tuquoise blanket symbolizing ancestral protection.

Navajo Nation President Buu Nygren (buuvannygren) attended the ceremony, “She likely has the distinction, too, of being the first Navajo speaker to talk at any major university’s graduation in the country,” he said.
