Class of 2025 graduate Ava Weigand loves animals. That’s why when she got accepted to go to Colorado State University she knew it was the place for her with their animal sciences and zoology programs. 

“I have always loved animals so much,” Weigand said. “Like possums, while some people tell me that I’m crazy, they are adorable to me.”
 
Weigand is not sure if she will be going into veterinary medicine or a different job that works with animals. 

“I’m not sure if I will end up going into the veterinary side, because I may not be able to handle the gory side of it, but I’m going to try,” she said.

When looking back on high school Weigand is going to miss her friends the most. She is nervous about having to go back out and make new friends at college.

“I’m going to be on my own, I won’t have my parents support and that’s kind of scary” Weigand said. 

She wants the underclassmen to know to start the college process early. 

“If you wait until senior year to do all your stuff, it is going to be an absolute nightmare,” Weigand said. “You are going to be way too busy, trust me.”

Weigand, while nervous, is looking forward to college. She’s ready for the change of weather especially, and to be a part of the agricultural leadership community.
